In 2021, the Brannan Center Board of Directors engaged AMS Planning and Research, a management consultant whose purpose is to help arts institutions realize ventures that are effective, resilient, and vital.

Critical questions for AMS were: What can be learned from peers and other similar projects? How must the Brannan Center project be positioned to achieve long-term sustainability?

After a yearlong process, AMS created a business model. Following that guidance, the Brannan Center Board of Directors has been aggressively cultivating relationships with:

  • Major donors

  • Public and business sectors

  • Elected leadership

  • Local arts and multi-cultural organizations

Avoiding a common pitfall, the Brannan Center Board of Directors included in its fundraising goals three years of operations funding to allow the Brannan Center to ramp up its business. This begins with the hiring of an executive director in 2024.

Due to the generosity of early donors, the construction contract was signed and work commenced in March of 2023. As of January 1, 2024, the work is on time, and on budget. Completion is estimated for June 2025 with opening estimated for Fall 2025.

Research and

Planning

Early generosity enabled us to cross significant project and fundraising milestones, which enabled us to break ground and initiate construction of Brannan Center. This early generosity also included seed funding to establish an endowment fund.

Next, as we focus on completing construction and laying the groundwork for vibrant community and performing arts programming, we invite you to help bring us closer to opening our doors in the Fall of 2025.

All donors will be recognized for their generosity with naming opportunities available at select levels.
