Visitor Services Associate (Part-Time, As Needed)

Title: Visitor Services Associate

Classification: Part-time, Per Diem, Non-Exempt

Compensation: $20-22/hr. This position is not eligible for benefits, other than those mandated by law.

Anticipated Schedule: Variable, 10-30 hours per month beginning in September, 2025 for training prior to Brannan Center’s public opening in October. This part-time position has variable hours from week to week, as event schedules vary and may include daytime, evening, and weekend events. Call times are no earlier than 6am and shifts end no later than midnight.

ABOUT BRANNAN CENTER

Brannan Center is a new, non-profit community space and performing arts venue currently under  construction in Calistoga, the northernmost town of the Napa Valley. The mission of Brannan Center is to empower the greater UpValley community with opportunities to experience community programming and performing arts that celebrate culture and promote vitality in our region.

With a scheduled opening in October 2025, Brannan Center will be a contemporary, multipurpose building designed be a gathering place and home to many community groups who do not have adequate facilities for meetings and activities, a home for arts groups throughout the Napa Valley, and a destination for private events such as weddings, quinceañeras, and parties.

In addition to serving as a community center and special event venue, Brannan Center will also  present diverse, multidisciplinary arts performances, and produce (or co-produce through  partnerships with other organizations) enrichment programs such as classes, workshops, and  camps for everyone from children to seniors.

Brannan Center's facility – a restored and renovated 150-year-old church – comprises two  performance halls, three flexible spaces for meetings, classes, workshops, and conferences, a demonstration kitchen, and an outdoor terrace.

POSITION SUMMARY

Visitor Services Associate is a versatile role, playing a vital supporting role in the successful execution of Brannan Center’s special events, including performances, weddings, private banquets, meetings, and community programs. During live events and programs, Visitor Services Associates will work under the direction of the Events Supervisor or Events Manager. Visitor Services Associates support guest and client needs, run box office and concessions, help maintain a clean and safe environment, and contribute to the overall professionalism and hospitality of the event experience.

Visitor Services Associates are expected to be proactive, detail-oriented, and service-focused, contributing to a positive environment for clients, guests, and fellow staff. In this versatile role, they will reinforce venue policies, help execute event logistics and may assist with venue setup and breakdown as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Event and Program Support

  • Greets and directs clients, guests, and vendors
  • Helps monitor event spaces to ensure they remain clean, safe, and functional
  • Supports enforcement of venue and rental policies as needed
  • Assists with basic audiovisual setup under the direction of technical staff
  • Tracks event needs and communicates effectively with Event Supervisor throughout shift
  • Helps document event details, issues, and equipment conditions for post-event reporting
  • Maintains familiarity with venue layout and available resources
  • Helps coordinate onsite food and beverage service when applicable
  • Assists Brannan Center community program instructors with material and room preparations, checks in program participants, distributes and collects waivers as needed, and maintains a clean, organized, and safe learning environment

Ticket Sales

  • Coordinates box office functions, including will-call and onsite sales,, checking in guests and distributing tickets or materials
  • Supports volunteer ushers and event staff as needed
  • Processes day-of ticket sales, handling both cash and credit card transactions
  • Coordinates with technical staff to ensure timely opening of house doors
  • Contributes to  post-event attendance and revenue reports

Other Duties

  • Participates in emergency procedures and ensures guest safety as directed
  • Handles cash or checks securely, if assigned
  • Communicates clearly with Event Supervisor and Events Manager before and after shifts
  • Participates in occasional staff meetings and trainings
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned to support the success of events and programs

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and characteristics:  

  • Required: Ability to work a flexible schedule that will include early mornings, nights, and weekends in order to produce exceptional Brannan Center events
  • One year of experience in event support, hospitality, guest services, or a related field
  • Experience with database and/or ticketing systems. Ability to quickly learn new systems
  • Friendly and professional communication skills
  • Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team
  • Calm, courteous, and reliable under pressure
  • Demonstrates support and enthusiasm for Brannan Center’s mission to clients, public and staff
  • Comfortable with Mac computers, Microsoft Office, Internet and email

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in event or performance venues
  • Prior experience in a box office
  • Basic familiarity with audiovisual equipment and setup
  • Customer service or ushering experience
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with the Napa Valley community
  • A sense of humor. Preferably dry

Certifications

*If not already certified, Brannan Center will facilitate the certification process upon commencement of employment

  • First Aid/CPR
  • RBS (Responsible Beverage Service)
  • CA Food Handler

Physical Requirements

  • Motor coordination and the ability to lift or move up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to sit and stand, sometimes for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments.
