Whether you’re continuing from a beginner Italian course or joining with some basic familiarity, this class is designed to meet you where you are and help you move forward with confidence. In a supportive and welcoming environment, you’ll strengthen your foundation while becoming more comfortable speaking Italian in real-life situations.

Classes focus on practical conversation, listening skills, vocabulary building, and reinforcing essential grammar—giving you the tools you need to communicate more naturally and effectively.

Beyond the language itself, you’ll dive into the richness of Italian culture. From traditions and regional customs to art, daily life, and ways of expression, each session weaves cultural insights into language learning—bringing Italian to life in meaningful and memorable ways.

You’ll revisit key beginner topics such as verbs, sentence structure, and everyday vocabulary, but with a dynamic twist: interactive dialogues, role-playing, and guided conversations that help you actively use what you learn.

For students who took our Winter Italian Culture & Conversation course, this is a great continuation!

Meet the Instructor

Carlo Di Fede is proud that he was born and raised in Italy, and has a deep passion for his Italian heritage. Carlo’s enthusiasm for the Italian language, culture, art, architecture, and, of course, cuisine, is something he is eager to share with others. Carlo holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and has dedicated the past 35 years to practicing architecture in the Valley. He has taught conversational Italian at Cal Poly for students preparing to study abroad, and also introduced those students to Italian culture and traditions. He looks forward to bringing his rich background and love for Italy to this Culture & Conversation class.
